The Tilly Dress was designed to be worn over a cloth diaper or cute ruffled bloomers without totally covering them up. The skirt is shorter in the back to allow the bottoms to peek through. It's adorable on its own, but also AMAZING for layering when the weather cools down. There are so many possibilities for cute and seasonal styling!
This dress is made for play! Though simple and elegant enough to wear for a special occasion, it was designed for everyday wear by a mom with a busy, outdoor-loving toddler. The open, crossed back allows free movement for the wiggliest toddler and is made with 100% cotton for durability and easy washing.
Unlike other cross-backed dress patterns, the waist seam and full, ruffled skirt allow the fabric to move with your gal as she plays.
Sizing: Garments have been pre-washed, so you should not experience any shrinkage; they'll be true to size right out of the package. The open back design allows for a lot of flexibility in sizing. Though my toddler is currently wearing size 3T in all her other clothes, she can still fit into the 12mo dress (though it is a tight squeeze over the head) it just fits more like a shirt now. So you can expect a good amount of growing room even when purchasing your toddler's current size.
Why only three sizes?: This dress really only works for walkers, so we don't carry any sizes smaller than 12mo. Even an early walker should be able to fit into the 12mo size, but because of the open back, the dress does not allow for crawlers to move around very well in it. Because it's designed to show off a diaper cover, we only produced up to size 3T, as many kids are potty trained by 3 years old, but if there is sufficient demand for 4T+, we may consider expanding our sizing in the future.
